Coach Development

Have you ever wondered how to positively influence a players behaviour or want to read what's happening on court better?

Netball Northern (through WNC) offer a number of workshops to educate and assist coaches in bettering their skills in this area, while also building a strong coaching community where you can share experiences.  The purpose of these workshops is to empower the ongoing development of coaches through targeted programmes aligned to the Netball New Zealand player, coach and official pathways.

There are five (5) levels starting with Foundation knowledge, focused on FutureFERNS, through to High Performance Coach Development.  WNC are presently focusing on the following levels as described below from Netball NZ:

FOUNDATION COACH - Coach development focuses on fundamental movement and basic Netball skills. The activities and games encourage maximum participation and enjoyment.

COMMUNITY COACH - The Community Coach Award (CCA) is for the development coach working with athletes from 12 – 18 years.  It includes a set of modules which provide basic knowledge and skills to develop players at the community level. These modules are delivered and facilitated in a practical environment and are designed to help coaches understand the importance of using a player-centred approach.
