COACHES

Inspire, Develop, and Make a Difference

Coaching is a rewarding way to give back to your community, connect with others, and make a real impact. Coaches play a vital role in developing players, shaping their netball journey, and fostering a love for the game. The rewards go beyond the game—watching players grow, develop skills, and come together as a team is an incredible experience.

There are coaching opportunities at all levels, from Year 1 & 2 Juniors to Premier and Representative teams. We support our coaches' development through Netball NZ Coaching Modules, practical workshops, and peer connections.

  • Embraces a growth mindset
  • Focuses on skill development and decision-making
  • Promotes fair play and ethical sport
  • Aims to develop not just better players, but better people
  • Values being part of a supportive coaching community

RESOURCES

There are several resources available to support you on your coaching journey, as well as the Netball NZ Coaching Framework, which provides an overview of the five recognised areas of coaching of netball.

Foundation or junior coaching

For our junior players, our netball centres follow the Netball NZ futureFERNS programme which works to best develop the foundational skills of our young players.

The futureFERNS website explains the structure of the game within the programme and provides coaches with a ‘coaching portal’ which gives week-by-week guidance and activities for trainings.
